The Hyundai Kona electric is said to be ‘India’s first electric SUV’. The electric model has been stylishly designed, carrying forward Hyundai's latest design philosophy. Starting from the front, the Hyundai Kona electric comes with sleek LED DRLs in place of the headlamps, with the turn indicators integrated into the same setup. The main projector headlamps are positioned below on the front bumpers.  

The Kona electric doesn’t come with a standard grille, yet has design elements which adds to the aerodynamics of the SUV. A part of the front grille, also houses the charging port for the electric SUV. Other details include the silver strip connecting the two DRL units and the large central air intake finished in black.

Moving to the side, the Hyundai Kona electric comes with sharp creases and character lines. The SUV features black-cladding all around the bottom part, as well as on the wheel arches. The blacked-out elements also surround the window-line, while the roof-rails also come in black. The Kona electric features specially-designed 17-inch alloy wheels, which further help improve aerodynamics.

The black-cladding continues on to the rear bumper as well. The rear profile comes with sleek tail lights, roof-integrated spoiler with brake lights and rear fog lamps housed in black-cladding as well. The rear bumper also comes with a faux silver skid plate.

The interiors of the Hyundai Kona electric is neatly laid out, with a host of features, technology and safety equipment. There is plenty of space inside the cabin, with large windows and sunroof; adding to the sense of open-ness.

The Hyundai Kona electric comes powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) paired with a 39.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The electric powertrain produces 134bhp and 395Nm of peak torque with a single-speed gearbox. The Kona electric offers peppy performance right from the start, mainly due to the instant torque available from the electric motor.

The electric SUV comes with both standard and fast-charging technology. While the Hyundai Kona electric takes around 6 hours to charge from a standard charger, the fast-charging allows 80% charge in just 57 mins.

The Hyundai Kona electric claims an ARAI-certified range of 452km on a single charge. However, in real-world conditions the range could vary between 350 - 400km, depending on various external factors.

The Kona electric, similar to other Hyundai products, comes packed with features, technology and safety equipment. This includes LED headlamps, LED tail lights, LED DRLs, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated ORVMs, sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, full-digital instrument cluster, 10-way electrically-adjustable driver seats with lumbar support, ventilated and heated front seats, multi-functional steering wheel, keyless entry and a host of others as well.

Safety features on the Hyundai Kona Electric: six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill assist control, burglar alarm, central locking, impact-sensing auto door unlock, speed sensing auto door lock, ISOFIX child seat anchor points, immobiliser and seat-belt pretensioners; among others.
